Hefei, the capital of Anhui province and an industrial center, does not receive a huge amount of foreigners, so that most hotels that accept them charge high prices, designed mainly for wealthy business travelers.
For the budget traveler, the cheapest option is at the University of Science and Technology (Zhongguo kexue jishu daxue) with beds in the Foreign Experts Building (Zhuanjia lou) at cheapest for around RMB50. There are also two inexpensive hotels near the long distance bus station. The Aoxing Hotel (Tel: 0551-2657661) on Mongguang lu, has twins with attached bath for RMB140. The Yinlu Hotel (Tel: 0551-2628303), which is about 10 minutes walk from the long distance bus station, provides clean and comfortable accommodation for under RMB200.
