Since Xiamen is one of the most pleasant cities in China, and a pretty seaside resort, there is a good selection of accommodation here. Many of the hotels can be found close to the major sites, and if you choose a hotel in one of the prosperous districts, the transportation is very convenient. Accommodation at Gulangyu is popular with most tourists' as well. For high standard services and good facilities, the Mandarin Hotel Xiamen may be the best choice as the only five star hotel in the city. A good middle range hotel is the Xiamen Miramar Hotel in the heart of the business district.
For those on a tight budget, there is the Xiamen Huaming Hotel opposite the railway station, or within Xiamen university there are three hostels costing around 100-300 yuan per room.
