While there are really not many sights in Dunhuang's city center, most travelers who come to Dunhuang come for the various sights around Dunhuang like the Mogao Grottoes, Crescent Moon Spring and Ancient City of Dunhuang. Therefore, the local tourist industry in and around Dunhuang is becoming more and more developed. Hotels, restaurants, bars and more are being built along the few major streets of this little town.
Most of the hotels in Dunhuang vary their rates by season. During the tourist season (summer season) prices tend to rise about 30%. If you're on a budget, the cheaper hotels tend to be in the southeast of town, close to the bus station.
