The basic specialty of Wuyi Mountain, beyond some of its impressive food varieties, is in its production of tea. The Wuyi Yan Tea produced here is basically a mix of green and red teas, which is easy to find. You will come upon many peddlers claiming to sell authentic Wuyi Yan Tea, or even Dahongpao, its best known subtype, however, it is strongly advised (possibly by the local government) that you come to the government-owned tea plantation farm to avoid being ripped off.

The mountain also specializes in the harvesting of fragrant mushrooms which recent evidence is claiming may have curative efficacy in the healing of cancer.

Wuyi Mountain seems to be the hotspot for miracle cures: the famous snake wine produced here is apparently an instant relief for chronic arthritis, many a patient claiming benefit from this appalling looking wine. Whether this is due to its medical effectiveness or its alcoholic potency is in doubt, although there is little question that getting this stuff through customs would be troublesome.
